Dealing with Prejudices
I believe that all people are prejudiced, some more and some less. What matters is the way in which we deal with our prejudices. If a person A comes across a person B who is possessing one or several characteristics; whether it be hair-, skin- or eye-color, dressing style, political stance, physical defects or sexuality, against which person A is prejudiced and chooses to let these prejudices take control of their mind judging the person according to them, I believe that he or she has acted wrongly. However, i person A chooses to look at the subject beyond their prejudices, into the person, he or she might discover that the prejudices possessed were not justified and start liking this person. When encountering then person C against which person A is prejudiced, they might stop and think again, because if the prejudices against person B were proved wrong, why would those against person C not? This, of course, is based upon the fact that the people encountered do not live up to the prejudices possessed. This is why I find it extremely important, as a member of an ethnical minority, never to live up to any negative prejudices but rather oppose them.
